I had a whole, well thought out, descpritive post all ready to. It had imagery, character development and a whole mythos behind it. I swear.
But apparently Blogger told me to fuck off and deleted it before I could finish. I'm not going to give in to the power of technology and retype it all, so I'll give a shout out to someone else who feels the same.

Check out both songs. One's by a pro, the other by an underground sensation.
Go Phillies.

Oh no! There's nothing more upsetting than losing a post like that. It makes us realize how much we're at the mercy of the internet and computers.
ReplyDeleteThough I can't listen to the second song about Philadelphia right now because I'm at the computer lab, I love "Empire State of Mind." Jay-Z is pretty amazing in general, and this song is so catchy and strong - it's an instant classic.
I was interested in the idea of different cities wanting great musical representation, so I looked for "Chicago State of Mind" (I was born in the Chicago area, I love it and my extended family still lives there so I get to visit a lot), and I found a sort of funny debate about whether Kanye West's "Homecoming" is better than "Empire State of Mind":

Pretty amusing topic to debate...
